Our mobile satellite modem works! We’re uploading this from a tiny 5-person room in Zhangmu, Tibet.
We crossed the border from Nepal into Tibet this afternoon over the “Friendship Bridge”. We’re currently at Zhangmu for one night and we’ll be making an overland journey via 4WD to Nyalam tomorrow morning at 4am. Roadworks along the way to Nyalam mean that the roads are only open for a certain number of hours a day, hence the early start.
The team is doing fine and eating mountains of food.
Will update again from Nyalam! =)
The Singapore Women’s Everest Team formed in 2004 and aimed to send the first team of Singaporean women to the world’s highest peak. Following a rigorous 5 year training schedule, we successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest in May 2009, placing 5 Singapore women on the top of the world.
