Today is the third day since our arrival at the Chinese Base Camp (4,870m). This campsite is situated on relatively open and flat ground and it will be our last campsite before approaching Cho Oyu’s Advanced Base Camp. Yesterday, we did our fourth acclimatization hike up to 5,560m, a new height reached since arriving in Tibet! The whole journey took about 6 hours where we hiked on terrain comprising of mainly scree (i.e loose rocks).
Following a very satisfying acclimatization climb, today was a rest day for the team which we used to sort out our equipment into suitable loads to be carried by yaks up to Advanced Base Camp.
The Singapore Women’s Everest Team formed in 2004 and aimed to send the first team of Singaporean women to the world’s highest peak. Following a rigorous 5 year training schedule, we successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest in May 2009, placing 5 Singapore women on the top of the world.
